Well. This is a little odd. I haven’t opened my blog and actually written a post since October and I feel a little flustered if truth be told. Mostly because I think that might be the longest I’ve ever not written on here since I actually started blogging in 2014, and also because I’ve kind of forgotten what to do/how to write so this may be a rambly type of post where I word vomit a bit but y’know, it could be worse.
I’m not sure how, but it could.
Anyway, first and foremost Happy New Year! I actually can’t believe that we’ve made it to 2020 in one piece but here we are. Granted we’re about 7 days in and World War 3 is threatening while Australia burns so I’m not sure ‘in one piece’ actually really applies any longer but there you go. While I’m on the topic, if you want to donate to the Australia relief funds, click here for a handy list of links to the different charities available (Red Cross, Salvation Army, Firefighters, wildlife relief etc).
Onto slightly more lighthearted topics, I figured I’d kick off my 2020 blogging year with a good old outfit of the day or ‘ootd’ post for you. I was quite proud of this outfit – I’ve always been a little scared of getting experimental with what I’m wearing (as I’m sure you’re already aware) and that includes layering and adding random colours or prints that I wouldn’t necessarily put together. When I came downstairs in this outfit in the morning Mum hated it, but as the day went on she said it grew on her and tbh that’s kinda how I felt too.
I’ve always loved this Stradivarius long sleeve as a layering piece – it’s actually my favourite layered under a shirt but this day I decided to wear it under this amazing sweater from Girl Knows All* that I’d been very kindly gifted. Of course, the obligatory black blazer needed to make another appearance because God knows it’s been too long since its last one… (the sarcasm is dripping off the page here)
So far, so normal – until we get to the lower half. Rather than sticking on a pair of jeans which I’ve been reaching for on a daily basis since the dawn of time, I decided to throw on these chino trousers* I was gifted earlier in the year from La Redoute. I’m still not 100% sold on the silhouette these give me but I really love the addition of another colour, and teamed with my black Topshop boots the overall look really worked!
Have you stepped out of your comfort zone recently with your fashion? How would you have styled these pieces? Let me know in the comments below!
