It’s been a while since we’ve had a little life catch-up/update around here and I’m in a slightly reflective mood so buckle up! (I’m honestly not sure at this stage what’s going to come out as I’m typing this so we could be in for a wild ride)
I think last time I really sat down and chatted (typed) with you guys it was earlier on in the year when I discussed my decision to return to therapy and really start ironing out the issues I’ve been pushing under the rug for many years. I’m still going to therapy every other week and still finding it so useful. I think I’ve been skirting around the tougher topics like dealing with grief and issues with my Dad because I know they’re going to be so tough to talk about and I know how upset I’m going to get but starting small has been good and I’ve learned a lot about myself and the way I cope with things this summer. It’s also made me realise a lot about the relationships and friendships I have in my life and I think they’re going from strength to strength as I become a better person so overall its been an amazing decision.
I got my new car at the start of the summer which was a huge moment for me! I’d been driving the same car (pretty much) since I was 17 so it was about time I got my act together and swapped it. I now have a beautiful Citroen C4 Cactus (new shape) in a gunmetal grey colour and it is my baby. We have a tradition of naming our cars in my family and I’ve always given them Irish names (because of the dancing connection) that start with the same letter the make of car starts with. This time around I have Connor the Cactus and Connor & I have had a great summer together. Honestly my car is my baby and I don’t think I’ve ever been happier with a purchase in my life, it makes me so happy every single time I drive him and I can’t wait for more adventures the rest of the year.
In other news I’m still going to reformer pilates every week and I think its probably my favourite hour of the week. My trainer is amazing and not only is she helping me to feel fab physically she’s also really great to talk to and I feel like we both get the opportunity to vent during those sessions which is always a good feeling! I’m over 3/4 complete with my reading challenge of 100 books in 2019 which is an amazing feeling, and I can’t wait to finish that 100th book over the next month or so – it was an ambitious challenge but I’ve always wanted to be able to say I can read 100 books in a year. Next year I’m going to make a start on the 100 books to read before you die list I’ve found online but I’m not going to attempt them all in 2020! Last week I managed to bag tickets to The 1975 in Manchester in February and I’m so excited! The seats I got are amazing and I’m already practically counting down the days until I can go – I think the gig is a few days after their next album launches so its going to be amazing to see their new material live so quickly!
And I think that’s about it really…life is busy and interesting and challenging but I’m loving this year and all the adventures I’ve had so far. What’s new with you? Let me know in the comments!
