I never knew that there was a short suit shaped hole in my life until last month. I was browsing Instagram and saw Jessica Skye wearing this exact suit and let me tell you, I’ve never hit purchase on an item quicker!
For me, short suits belonged firmly in the 80s or on Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. They looked glorious don’t get me wrong, but I never for a minute thought I’d be wearing one myself. I’m not sassy or bad-assy enough in my opinion, but the minute I donned this little H&M number you bet your ass I envisioned myself walking into expensive boutiques on Rodeo Drive and purchasing vintage Chanel suits with glee.
(Ok fine, I imagine myself doing that on a regular basis but whatever)
This suit has come into my life at the perfect time. Dressing for transitional weather is never an easy business, but when it’s too hot to wear a full suit and you still want that super smart, ‘you bet your ass I’ve got my shit together’ look then this is the solution you’re looking for. I think this will transition really well into Autumn too – you could definitely switch out wearing it with a t-shirt for a regular shirt, polo neck or even a jumper depending on how the mood strikes you, and whack a pair of tights on the bottom to keep your legs toasty warm.
I styled it with my newest pair of Topshop western boots – yes I do have an addiction. I think they’re going to be a really fundamental styling piece in my A/W wardrobe.
How would you style the short suit? Comment and let me know!
