It feels like quite some time since I’ve written a simple outfit post for this little blog of mine. Probably because it really has been a hot minute since I just chatted about what I’d been doing that day and a little round up of what I’d been wearing. I used to write posts like that at least three times a week in the early days of blogging, and I kinda miss the simplicity of it. I’d always have a hilarious anecdote from the week to share with you all – usually something to do with me being the clumsiest person ever, or maybe some hilarious incident told over cheesecake with my best friend Holly – and it made my posts feel a little more diary like and personal.

I don’t think I could 100% go back to that type of blogging these days, mostly because I’ve changed so much since then but also because my life is 50030885 times more boring than it used to be and I definitely spend too much time working to collect amusing anecdotes each week but there we go.

One thing I can do however, is talk to you about the outfits I am wearing so I figured I’d kick things off again talking about this absolute beaut of an outfit I put together on Monday to take me through another boiling hot day up North.

I had prepared for the sunny weather earlier on in the year when we had that two week heatwave over Easter and everyone assumed we were in for another incredible summer like last year. I panic bought summer dresses from Nasty Gal and alas the sun went in and wasn’t seen again in this corner of the country until this week when it has been absolutely glorious.

I wanted to look smart for a busy work day on Monday but also stay cool enough while I was walking around town and the office so I opted for my new Zara black shorts. I have a pair in a similar style from H&M which I absolutely adore, and have been on the lookout for some black ones in the same style for quite some time. I spied these in Zara last week and just had to pick them up – I definitely think they’re the most flattering style on me and I love the fact that they’re just that bit longer too so I’m not showing too much thigh or the dreaded bum cheek. I think these shorts would be the perfect solution for hot days in the office too – they’re the right length to stay business-like and super smart looking but also really nice and lightweight. Team them with a blazer like I have and a white shirt, with some simple black sandals or court shoes!

Along with my Zara blazer I also threw on this lil slogan t-shirt I picked up from In the Style a few months ago – it was dirt cheap and gives me all the summer vibes plus the red in the slogan goes perfectly with the laces on my new Proenza Schouler canvas trainers! I’d had my eye on these bad boys for quite some time so when they went into the Net-a-Porter sale at 50% off you better believe I bagged myself a pair. I actually filmed a first impressions unboxing video for my Youtube channel so if you’d like to see my reaction when they arrived then click here.

I hope you guys enjoyed a return to the fashion chat today – let me know how you’d style these shorts for work in the comments below! See you next time xo
