*This post features a review of a gifted experience, however all opinions are my own*
Honestly, if you were to sit me down with a list of potential pampering treatments and ask me to rank them from best to worst, sitting in the hairdressers would always come top. I don’t know what it is about the experience but its something that I have always enjoyed.
I usually take the time to just have some time out, read my book, give my brain a break. Ultimately that leads to everybody’s favourite ‘freelancer guilt’ whereby any second you don’t spend working you feel guilty for not working, but I know that forcing myself to take that hour or two out of my day once in a blue moon to let someone pamper me is inherently good for the soul, let alone good for my hair.
Therefore you can imagine how thrilled I was when Duck & Dry got in touch and asked me if I’d like to pop into their new salon in Mayfair for a bit of a pamper. It coincided with some press days and client meetings that I had in London which turned out to be the most perfect situation as I could turn up to all my appointments with with a fresh blow dry – divine.
The new salon is located just a stones throw away from Selfridges on Oxford St, and embodies everything we’ve come to know and love from the Duck & Dry brand. It’s a gorgeous space, with quirky decor, wonderful friendly staff, and a bar (although my appointment was 10.30am so I stuck firmly to water and lemon ofc).
After having my hair washed (probably my favourite bit of any hairdresser experience) I sat down to have it styled by the wonderful Soph. I went for a loose, curly blow dry – something that I could try and recreate with my curling tongs at home the following day, and also something that I knew I’d feel comfortable and happy with at my events.
The whole appointment was super quick but I didn’t feel like I was being rushed either. I had a chat and a giggle with the staff, enjoyed the atmosphere of the salon, and allowed myself time to chill out before I had to run around London like a crazy person again.
I’d highly recommend Duck & Dry if you’re after a quick blow dry in London – I’ve never had a bad experience there and I’m always so happy with the results! You could even fit an appointment into your lunch hour at work ready for those afternoon meetings.
Have you ever been to Duck & Dry before? What did you think of your experience? Let me know in the comments!
