Firstly, and I know it’s never good to begin these things with an apology but it must be said, I’m sorry for the radio silence on here. I’d love to say that it’s because I’ve been super busy working on exciting things behind the scenes but the reality? The reality is that I’ve been frantically trying to watch all seven seasons of Game of Thrones before Season 8 began two days ago. I succeeded – due mostly to the fact that I have done absolutely nothing else with my evenings for pretty much the last month – but I do feel very guilty for neglecting basically everything else in my life while I consumed all (approx) 67 hours of it.

67 hours well spent though if you ask me…

(If anyone else is watching the new season please feel free to DM me on Twitter/Instagram or email me to discuss theories. I have many. I do however want to keep the comments section spoiler free for anyone who may not be caught up yet)

Anyway, onto the important subject, skincare! You may remember at the start of this year and end of last year I was struggling with my skin a lot. More so probably, than at any other time of my life. I was blessed with fairly uncomplicated skin as a teen and now I think I’m making up for those smug years by exploding into full blown breakouts every single month. Granted, I’m pretty low/stressed right now, my diet is terrible and hormones have never been my friend and combined, these factors make for pretty aggravated skin.

At the start of this year, I vowed to finally act my age and get a proper skincare routine sorted and I did! I will admit that I don’t do it every night – if I’m particularly tired/stressed/feeling low, I honestly have to force myself to just clean my teeth before bed (real talk) because everything feels like a monumental effort, but when my brain is being friendly to me I love nothing more than indulging in my full skincare routine before bed.

I actually wrote a post during December which mentioned some products I’d been loving, however while these still remain in my collection I will admit they’ve been rather unceremoniously shoved to one side to make way for some new babies very kindly gifted to me by Dermalogica as part of their ‘skinfluencer’ program.

I’ve been lucky enough to receive these products in both full size and miniature forms due to a very generous birthday present from the brand which had me feeling totally shook, so I’ve been giving them a good test both at home and abroad since I received them and I thought it was about time that I finally told you guys what I thought.

So, the products I received were: the Pre-Cleanse*, the Special Cleansing Gel*, the Daily Microfoliant*, the Skin Smoothing Cream* and the Skin Perfect Primer*. I’ve also recently been lucky enough to get my hands on the new Redness Relief Essence* but as I’ve not had it long I’ve not tested it often enough to warrant a review.

I think my ultimate favourite is the Pre-Cleanse*. I’ve not used anything like this before and I absolutely love it. It helps to remove any excess oil and dirt that you may have missed when taking your makeup off before you do your “proper” cleanse. It also smells absolutely divine which helps!

The Daily Microfoliant* is also a little miracle in a bottle – I wasn’t sure of it at first because I’ve never used an exfoliator that I’ve had to mix before (it comes out as a powder and then you add water and use) and I think I was a little nervous about doing it wrong. Also for some reason the powder freaked me out the first time I used it (I think I was having a bad day or something because this makes literally no sense to me either) but now that I’m used to it I’m literally obsessed. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth and is the perfect product to use before doing my Aesop poppy seed mask.

Finally, the primer* deserves a special mention. Not only is it the perfect base for my makeup to sit on, it also has SPF 30 meaning it’s great for this time of year when the sun is finally starting to shine. I’m forever paranoid about making sure I protect my skin properly against the sun, especially as I’m so pale and freckly, so knowing that this sits under my makeup quietly working away and doing its thing to keep my skin healthy and looking youthful.

If you guys want me to go a little more in depth into my current skincare routine, or if you’d like any more information on specific products please let me know in the comments and I’ll make sure I sort that for you! Also let me know your spring skincare favourites – I’m always on the look out for more products to add to my collection!
