Ok now I’m fully aware that just a few posts ago I was talking about my love of all black and how I hardly ever reach for anything else, but you guys, this spring I’m making a slight exception. Thanks to my endless scrolling through Instagram, Pinterest, and the new-in page of Topshop, I’ve discovered a springtime colour palette I can fully get on board with…
I’ve always loved blue. I pretty much lived in mid and light wash denim last summer and it brought such a lovely pop of colour into my wardrobe in a way that felt so natural and accessible for the colour-phobe in me. This year I decided to be brave and try to incorporate it in a more “traditional” manner – in other words, through something other than endless denim.
I have the odd t-shirt and sweater in my chosen colour of the season, however this t-shirt is, I think, the one that has changed it all. I first saw this slightly cooler, slate toned blue in a Youtube video and I became hooked on finding a piece for my own wardrobe in this colour. I already knew that I wanted a pair of white jeans for this year after firmly establishing my love of denim again last year, and figured that not only would the blue be the perfect addition to inject a bit of colour into my life, but it would work so well with lighter and brighter pieces for the spring and summer months.
It seemed like fate really when I walked into Topshop on Oxford Street when I visited London earlier this month, and the first thing I found was a selection of my favourite boxy fit t-shirts in a variety of colours including the blue. I mean it would have been rude to have left it in the shop really, especially as they’re only £10 each (I definitely picked up a camel coloured one too). I’ve honestly worn it so much since, and this outfit definitely has to be my favourite combination. The blue works so well with the off-white of the jeans, and with the added comfort of the chunky trainers I can tell its going to be an outfit I reach for again and again in the nice weather.
