Wow, you guys it’s been a hot minute since I last wrote a blog post and for that I apologise! It’s been super busy with work recently and I had my first trip of the year to Amsterdam as well this month (more on that coming up soon), but I am back and very much here to stay!
Last February, I’m pretty sure we were all experiencing a typical English winter eg: Baltic, and therefore spent a solid 90% of the time layered up with sweaters and jackets to beat the cold. We also had a snazzy experience with the Beast From the East, so therefore when February rolled around this year I was expecting much of the same: snow, cold, and plenty of jumpers.
Surprisingly instead it’s been fairly mild, and this week I essentially felt like I’d skipped forwards a few months and woken up in the middle of July, so it’s thrown me off completely and left me struggling to piece together a weather appropriate outfit each morning while getting ready. While the warmer temperatures have been pretty dreamy, I’m nonetheless freaked out at just how warm it has been – is this the first sign of global warming we’ve all been waiting for (and dreading)?
I have however been enjoying being able to leave the house without being bundled up to the nines with winter jackets and scarves and in particular this outfit was a firm favourite from the month. I’ve been wanting to figure out a way of styling up these CAT boots* that works more seamlessly with my wardrobe after trying and failing last year. I decided to pair them with my favourite black Topshop straight leg jeans and a new edition to my wardrobe, this beautiful long sleeve from Stradivarius which is just the right kind of warm and cosy for early spring days. I did bring a jacket into town with me but then soon discovered that it was actually mild enough to get away with just my blazer and so therefore proudly swanned around town in this old favourite of mine also from Stradivarius.
I’ve been seriously loving neutral tones and prints in my wardrobe recently and this whole outfit just completely embodied the vibe I’ve been embracing.
How have you been preparing for the warmer weather? I won’t lie, I’ve been panic buying dresses this past week after the first hint of spring, I placed a hefty order on Nasty Gal this week for some new summer dresses and now my eye is now firmly on party dresses for my upcoming birthday celebrations – I think I have a problem.
