Rewind four years to the conception of LJLV and you may remember the ridiculously beautiful oversized black teddy coat that I wore to death throughout the winter of 2014 and well into 2015. It was from Primark, was a hand-me-down from Momma Love and it was one of the best things that came into my wardrobe that year. It kept me warm during the baltic Northern winter and not only that, it kept me warm when I was ridiculous and insisted upon wearing crop tops in November (I know, I was young and naive and it won’t happen again).
I honestly wore it until it started to fall apart, and then continued to wear it for a little longer until Momma Love told me I really couldn’t be seen in public in it any longer so it sadly was sent to the recycling bin never to be seen again. Ever since its sad demise I’ve been on the hunt for a new teddy coat to take its place. I’ve never found The One until this season rolled around and the babes at Miss Selfridge sent me this gorgeous fluffy coat of dreams to get me through the winter months.
Granted, the colour terrifies me because I feel like its only a matter of time before I spill Toffee Nut Latte down the front of it but I’m hoping that I can demonstrate that I can actually act my age and get through a winter without spilling something ridiculous down the front of my clothes and thus staining them forever. This coat is SO warm and SO snuggly that I genuinely feel like I’m wearing a hug, I think that’s the only way to describe it.
I wanted the coat to be the main focus of the outfit, but I still wanted to embrace a slightly smarter aesthetic for the day, so I decided to team my failsafe black Boohoo rollneck with my Zara boucle skirt that I bought earlier in the Autumn. I love this skirt, it gives me all the Chanel vibes with none of the expensive price tags but yet I haven’t worn it enough since I got it. I think it’s probably because it’s pink and we all know I’m pretty nervous about colour but I think with this outfit it worked. Finally, I wore my gorgeous loafers from Just Fab – I can’t quite put into words how comfortable these shoes are and also how cheap!
