STYLING DRESSES FOR WINTER

UK blogger Lucy Love styles Boohoo dress for winter
I decided to play around with the edits for these photos and it's shown me one thing: I am 100% useless at Lightroom. I don't know how these insta-whizz's and amazing photographers are doing it but it is not a skill that I currently possess. Note: currently - I'm determined to learn! Anyway, rambling introduction aside please excuse the not 100% perfect appearance of these photos, I'm learning.
The lovely folk over at Boohoo contacted me a couple of weeks ago to find out if I wanted to take part in a new styling challenge: styling one of their more affordable dresses for winter and so of course I jumped at the chance - you guys should know by now how much I enjoy a styling challenge on this blog!

My style has admittedly changed quite a bit this year, but one thing that will always remain is my love of super casual and comfortable styling and this dress just screamed comfortable to me. It's super oversized which makes it so cosy and it hides a multitude of sins [read: too many loaded fries at my fave local Mexican]. I also fell for the slogan front - it kinda gives me all the 80s/Tommy Hilfiger vibes and I'm feeling it. Admittedly this is something I'd probably wear a lot more in the summer with a pair of denim shorts underneath and some Converse, but I like a challenge and wanted to see if I could make it winter appropriate.

Although perhaps not the warmest outfit I've ever chosen to wear in November, I'm pleased to report that no extremities developed frost bite and I actually made it through a morning in town without getting too cold. I decided to cinch in the waist a little with my favourite Topshop waist belt that Momma Love got me for Christmas last year to give the dress a little more shape, and then layered my favourite Zara wool coat over the top to keep me warm. I love this coat, it's a few years old now but it is wearing really well on the outside (the inner lining in the pocket is a little ripped) and still looks really smart. Finally, I added my Deichmann boots to give me some added height and give the outfit a little 'edge'.
