Guys, the carpet boots are back with a vengeance – it really is winter. It’s funny because I hardly ever wear these boots throughout the rest of the year but for some reason from November – February they hardly ever leave my feet.
I was having this discussion with Mum today and she reckons they’re going to be the type of shoe that you still have in your collection twenty years down the line and look back on with fond memories every time you wear them. If that’s the case, I’ll be a very happy bunny.
We shot these photos in town over the weekend, it was a typical grey day and I was feeling a little uninspired with my wardrobe so I think I chose a colour scheme to match my mood but I’m not mad at it, there’s something about it that just works and I love it when those little happy accidents occur.
I’ve been obsessed with more oversized and loose fitting silhouettes recently – to me they just scream comfort and it’s at this time of year that I like to be as comfortable as possible in absolutely every outfit I choose. There’s something about huge jumpers and loose fitting trousers that make me feel so cosy and ready to just snuggle up on the sofa under a blanket with films and Christmas biscuits so expect to be seeing a lot of outfits like this in the run up to the festive season.
I decided to chuck on my All Saints jumper today – this was a controversial decision for me as it’s something I’ve studiously avoided now for about two years but haven’t been able to bear to part with either. I gave it to Mum for a short while but it didn’t look right on her either so I inherited it back again when I moved home earlier in the year and here we are – weirdly I actually like the way it looks on me these days so I feel like we’ve come full circle and I’m actually pretty pleased because it wasn’t exactly cheap…
Combined with an old favourite, the Prince of Wales check trousers from Zara and of course the carpet boots as the piece de resistance I feel like this was a pretty strong outfit choice for a mild day in town.
