If you guys have been long term readers of this blog, you’ll probably be familiar with my everlasting love affair with the humble blazer. This love affair dates right back to 2014 and my first few months of blogging when I was going through a bit of a Made in Chelsea phase and wanted to look super sophisticated everywhere I went on the off chance of bagging myself a city boy (not likely when you live in rural Cheshire but a girl could dream). I wandered into Topshop one Saturday morning and by chance found the blazer of my dreams which is still in my wardrobe today.
Fast forward four years and four more blazers have made their mark on my style, the most recent of these being this double breasted beauty from Stradivarius that has barely left my back since I ordered it two weeks ago.
I wanted something a little different for this transitional season we now find ourselves in, and after having to wave goodbye to my beloved Missguided blazer towards the start of August when it literally fell apart, I’ve been looking for a new tailored babe to take its place in my heart (and also my wardrobe). While ultimately I will get another black blazer at some point in the next few months (I already have my eye on a particularly beautiful Zara bae) this checkered beauty caught my eye while browsing the Stradivarius website for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to the dreamy slightly oversized fit, boxy shoulders and fact that a double breasted jacket would bring something new to my repertoire – something that can never be sniffed at.
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying styling it in a number of different ways, but I thought for my return to this blog after an unplanned month away I would show you perhaps my current favourite way of wearing it. I wore this outfit into Manchester a couple of weeks ago to shoot with the babe that is Christina, and couldn’t wait to showcase this blazer alongside these incredible faux snakeskin boots that are also from Stradivarius. These boots honestly remind me so much of something The Kooples would bring out and you guys know my feelings for that brand. To give the outfit a bit of edge without making it too clashy I stuck with an all black ensemble but brought my Topshop leather skirt out of forced retirement now that I’ve finally lost enough inches off my hips and bum to squeeze back into it.
While the blazer is coming into its own for early Autumn, it won’t be long before it will need to be worn under a thicker jacket therefore I’m going to be making the most of styling it on its own for the next few weeks. This outfit offers the perfect day to night combination in that it’s smart enough for an evening meal or drinks with the girls but also comfortable enough for a day out shopping or taking your Mum out for lunch – and that my friends is a winner in my (snakeskin) boots.
How would you style this blazer? Do you have any wardrobe staples you’re already loving for Autumn? Let me know in the comments!
