Picture the scene: I’ve just been paid and it’s the first payday since my rise so of course I’m feeling a little spendy. I head to Oxford Street on a mission to find summer clothes and while Topshop definitely comes up trumps with some of the goods, I’m still not feeling entirely satisfied and therefore make the decision to head into Urban Outfitters for the first time in approximately 70,000 years (three years) and stumble across the Ellessee jumpsuit of dreams…
I was specifically after clothes that could keep me cool during London’s heatwave as my wardrobe up until that point was 90% black and mostly leggings and sweaters. And slogan tees – I definitely have more than enough of those and yet I still find myself desperately seeking more (and more and more). Everything on the high street at the moment is super colourful and usually has some kind of floral print or frill attached to it and while I’m slowly starting to experiment more with colour I am in no way inclined to be wearing floral prints or frills any time soon so I was starting to get super frustrated with the lack of summer dresses that actually appealed to me and my style.
I was hoping to find a super 90’s style dress – you know the kind: just above the knee, slightly square neckline and thin spaghetti straps and while I didn’t manage to find one of those I did manage to find potentially the most comfortable piece of clothing I have ever worn. Ever. I spied it in both jumpsuit and playsuit form but I had in fact just bought a pair of shorts so thought I’d try the jumpsuit as it was just something a little bit different and boy oh boy am I pleased I tried it!
I actually had to size down in it which is a dream in itself, because it is so super loose fitting and the culotte style legs are the most comfortable thing ever mainly because they let in all the air on hot days but also because wide leg pants are generally a dream to wear. When I first picked it up I was a little worried it would look terrible mainly because it’s not the prettiest item in the world to look at – I was low-key worried that Joe & my family would hate it but so far it’s actually had a surprising amount of love and affection from others so clearly I’m a fool for worrying.
I teamed it for this shoot with my absolute favourite ride or die chunky trainers from Topshop for the perfect summer sporty vibe and I loved the outcome – super chilled, super comfortable and still super stylish. 10/10 would wear again (and again, and again, and again).
Until next time, peace out xo
