Shooting for this blog has never exactly been a dull occurrence. From accidentally proposing to my best friend over pancakes one memorable Easter weekend, to many different instances of accidental boob exposure, never really dressing for the weather, and that one time I almost flashed the entirety of Seven Dials in London while trying to style a new bodysuit I had bought last Spring, I am forever toeing the line between societal acceptance and getting arrested for indecent exposure.
I’d love to say that at the age of 26, I have greatly matured and things are a little different now but that would be a lie and one thing I really, really dislike, is lying.
Therefore, I figured I’d regale you with another mildly humorous anecdote to start your Wednesday morning the right way. This weekend I was shooting with the absolute babe that is Sydnie Kelly, and we’d decided to scout some locations around the South Bank in London. After shooting one look on the top of the National Theatre, we decided to do a quick outfit change to shoot this babe of a summer dress (that isn’t really a dress but we’ll get to that) on a set of steps slightly lower down.
Without somewhere “safe” to change, I figured I’d hide behind a large wall-like monument – getting changed into a dress from trousers really isn’t, after all, a difficult thing to do. This was before I remembered I needed to change my bra as well….I think you see where this is going.
I whipped off my black bra with no trouble at all and was just securing my nude coloured one when I happened to look up and realise I was in full view of everyone currently crossing Waterloo Bridge in both buses and on foot. Yes, I have now unintentionally flashed my boobs to half of South London, but I like to think they enjoyed it…
On to the outfit, I picked up this oversized t-shirt at a B The Agency summer gifting event last year with the full intention of using its oversized fit to my advantage and styling it as a summer dress. I soon learned that really, it’s probably a bit too short to wear on it’s own after nearly flashing my underwear on a very memorable occasion while out with Joe last summer. Fast forward a few months and I safely wore it with tights in this blog post and felt much better, however last week I decided to conveniently forget the need for hosiery and decided to brave the bare legs once again.
While I undeniably felt much better in 25 degree heat, I soon realised that just one errant gust of wind and I’d be having a full Marilyn Monroe moment but without the glamour and have since decided that perhaps from now on I should just play it safe and stick to wearing it as it as the powers that be intended, in other words, as a t-shirt.
Let me know in the comments whether you think I’ve made the right decision or if you think that actually a cheeky bum flash every now and again is perfectly acceptable in the name of fashion.
