Ok look, I know we’ve all seen pretty much nothing but Gucci dupes for the past 12 months but this is a bandwagon I am firmly on and will be riding until the wheels fall off so please do forgive me. When you can’t justify the price of the original though, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of a dupe, am I right? (I’m right).
Today’s piece of not-so-luxury but undeniably gorgeous fashion comes in the form of this wicked cream sweater from Stradivarius. I honestly can’t get over how long it actually took me to shop from there but now that I have holy wow I am obsessed. We all know I adore a bit of a Zara purchase but their pieces are definitely at the more expensive end of the high street for my current budget allowances, so their cheaper but no less brilliant sister Stradivarius has my back.
You may remember the amazing black puffer style jacket I bought from there for my holiday to Budapest back in November? It’s still riding high as one of my number one pieces of outwear I think I’ve ever bought, so when I fancied a bit of pre-Christmas spending I headed straight back there for a browse. I’d actually been after a plain red, long sleeved, funnel neck top to layer under things during the festive period and after refusing point blank to spend over £10 on one from most stores I stumbled across one on the Stradivarius website. Of course, me being me, I couldn’t resist a further browse and that is when I happened across this sweater for £9.99. £9.99! I couldn’t believe my eyes, and so of course it ended up in the basket alongside a set of awesome earrings (I’m trying to get more into accessories at the moment but more about that another time).
I actually ended up wearing the red top under this sweater quite a lot but for the purpose of this shoot I wanted to move away from layering and let the sweater itself do the talking. I teamed it with my faux leather H&M shorts that are a few years old now but nevertheless still holding their own, and my favourite River Island chunky boots from the OG days of LJLV and one of my favourite looks of the year so far (calm down, I know we’re only 2 weeks in but you gotta let me have a moment here) was born!
Let me know what you think of my obsession with all things Gucci dupe (can we go as far as to say Ducci? Or is that a bit cringe?) in the comments below!
