These photos are slightly grainier than I would have liked – we snuck out of the flat to shoot for the second time on New Years Eve with the intention of getting some shots in front of the cool motorbike we spied in the car park of our flats, however as we got there we discovered someone had parked their obnoxiously bright red VW in front of it and alas our perfectly planned shots were not to be.
As we meandered over to our usual location for shoots at home, it also started to rain, so what had begun so promising soon turned into the quickest shoot I think I’ve ever done for the blog as I frantically tried to avoid the imminent deluge.
As I’ve mentioned a few times recently, 2017 was a year of experimentation for me with my fashion – something which I don’t think worked too well for me but that was completely necessary to show me that actually my sports luxe looks of 2014 onwards were how I truly felt myself. I’ve never been one for wearing colour, and while I now like the occasional pop of red or animal print, for the most part my outfits continue to be as black as my soul and I am A-OK with that.
I’m slowly bringing more denim into my wardrobe – jeans have gone from being the devils invention to something I actually find quite comfortable, but for the most part my leather look joggers and vaguely sporty bottoms are where my heart lies. Now just to get myself another pair of Nikes to replace my lost babies from last year and I’m well on my way to where I want to be style wise again.
I feel like this outfit is a complete embodiment of me as a person and I felt so comfortable and happy in it from the minute I put it on. I decided to layer my long sleeved mesh top under my understated but still semi-slogan t-shirt from ASOS in a throw back to my first attempts at layering many moons ago. While ordinarily I would have teamed this with my favourite satin effect joggers, this time I decided to go with my old faithful leather look babies instead and boy was that the right decision. I always forget how comfortable these are and how flattering they look on me – plus they don’t stick to me like my other leather look pants do, leaving me feeling like Ross from Friends in that scene with the paste.
Are you looking forward to the imminent return of more sports luxe to the blog? I’m so excited to bring it your way!
