AN EASY TO WEAR OUTFIT

UK blogger Lucy Love
As you may have noticed - and not just because I've prattled on about it with startling regularity on these digital pages - my style has changed a lot this year. At the start of the year I was still all about the sports-luxe trend which is in fact a trend I still adore although perhaps wear less of these days, and all about trying to fit in more with the alternative scene whereas in reality I was just craving a simple, perhaps more "mainstream" look.

FALLING IN LOVE WITH KNITWEAR

UK blogger Lucy Love
I think I've fallen in love with knitwear. No seriously, I am a woman possessed. I crave it, I dream about it, I'm constantly browsing online retailers adding jumper after jumper to my basket before closing the tab in a hot sweat. I'd say I need help only I don't want it, I just want a bigger hanging rail to store my ever increasing jumper collection and a bottomless bank account to fund it...

NOTES ON HAPPINESS #2

UK blogger Lucy Love
You may remember a month or so ago I decided to put together the first post in a new "series" on this blog where I examined what happiness truly means to me.

A COSY AUTUMN OUTFIT

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
Guys, the carpet boots are back with a vengeance - it really is winter. It's funny because I hardly ever wear these boots throughout the rest of the year but for some reason from November - February they hardly ever leave my feet.

PERFECT IMPERFECTION

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
Firstly, before I properly delve into the post, I just wanted to address the elephant in the room which is the new/old look to LJLV. I decided that although I loved my more editorial template, it just wasn't working for me logistically and I spent a lot of time feeling that something was missing.

HOLD ON

UK blogger Lucy Love
Yes I have named this blog post after the song by Wilson Phillips because you guys I am having a moment with it and I think it's going to be my anthem for the rest of 2018. Plus it reminds me so much of Bridesmaids and that is one of my all time favourite feel good flicks so...

THE ULTIMATE AUTUMNAL PRINT CLASH

UK blogger Lucy Love
When I compare this year's winter wardrobe to last year's, the difference is honestly astounding. Last year I was blindly fumbling around desperately trying to figure out what I actually wanted to wear but without giving much thought to practicality which meant I spent most of the season living in t-shirts and wondering why I was permanently cold.

OLD AND NEW

UK blogger Lucy Love
There's been much talk online recently of the effects of fast fashion on the environment and why we should be making more ethical decisions when it comes to our wardrobes whether that be buying second hand, from ethical brands, considering investment pieces or simply just reworking existing items from our wardrobes more often. Now I'm not going to comment on this specifically in this post as I don't feel that I have anything extra to say that hasn't already been said, however I figured this was the perfect opportunity to show you exactly how I like to rework items in my wardrobe for new seasons.

A DREAM AUTUMN COMBINATION

UK Blogger Lucy Love
If there is one thing I've learned from going through these photos it is this: I need to find some new poses. There's only so many 'one leg cocked at a jaunty angle' and 'moody fashion face' I can pull before we all get bored and you guys, I'm getting a little bored of looking at myself.

COMFORT

UK fashion blogger Lucy Love
Comfort for me takes many forms. It is the thing I spend a solid 90% of my time craving. It's the blanket I've slept with every night since I was a baby, it's coming home to my dogs at the end of a long day, it's cuddles with someone special, the knowledge I can call my Mum at any time of the day for advice. It's seeing my car in the station car park when all I want to do is get home, it's spending time with my best friend, it's a relationship that I'm slowly cultivating with my body.

THE SNEAKERS I'M NEVER TAKING OFF MY FEET

UK blogger Lucy Love
Well guys it's official, I'm wearing tights, tonight I have burned my favourite Autumn candle and this afternoon I bought a burnt umber bed throw. Autumn is well and truly here and I am LIVING for it.

I'VE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH BLOGGING AGAIN

UK blogger Lucy Love
Oh you guys, you have no idea how happy I am to be typing this, but I have honest to God fallen head over heels in love with blogging again and I've missed this feeling so much. Now just to reassure you, I never stopped loving it as such, but my relationship with blogging over the past couple of years has been a bit weird if truth be told.

NOTES ON HAPPINESS #1

UK blogger Lucy Love
Happiness. The one emotion I have been desperately seeking but always seemed a little out of my grasp. I think Hollywood, Disney and the entertainment industry in general have a lot to answer for when it comes to the illusion they paint of true happiness and what that both looks and feels like.

THE ULTIMATE POWER SUIT

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
I have a story about this suit. Not something worthy of a Man Booker Prize just to set your expectations, but a story nonetheless. I got it almost two years ago from The Kooples - it was one of my holy grail clothing items and I cannot even put into words how happy I was to bring it home with me. I decided to save it and bring it out to wear on the red carpet at last year's BFI London Film Festival, but alas when October rolled around I had put on a bit of weight and could no longer get the trousers done up. Cue a minor breakdown and much swearing before I compromised and just wore the jacket with a different pair of trousers #logic.

A DENIM LOVE AFFAIR

UK fashion blogger Lucy Love
My relationship with all things denim has been well documented on these pages since the very inception of my blog. In fact, I have a whole post dedicated to my seven year jean phobia, and several dedicated to the two pairs that successfully brought me out of it (here and here if you're interested). While denim has slowly made its way into my wardrobe, it has never become a staple item for me until recently when I discovered the Topshop straight leg jeans and my life hasn't been quite the same since.

AN A/W18 WARDROBE STAPLE

UK Fashion Blogger Lucy Love
If you guys have been long term readers of this blog, you'll probably be familiar with my everlasting love affair with the humble blazer. This love affair dates right back to 2014 and my first few months of blogging when I was going through a bit of a Made in Chelsea phase and wanted to look super sophisticated everywhere I went on the off chance of bagging myself a city boy (not likely when you live in rural Cheshire but a girl could dream). I wandered into Topshop one Saturday morning and by chance found the blazer of my dreams which is still in my wardrobe today.

NOT EASY BEING GREEN

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
You know when you buy something that you think is going to be oh so totally perfect for your wardrobe and then you don't really wear it even half as much as you thought you would? That's what has happened with these trousers, and you guys I am not stoked about it. These trousers are beautiful, they fit like a dream and I am determined to make them work in so many ways before the year is out.

FARMER GIRL IN VINTAGE GUCCI

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
I'm writing this post, pretty exhausted, on the eve of the most productive Sunday I've had in a long while. A rum and coke is firmly in hand, and I thought I'd regale you with a list of things I've got done today just so I can brag to somebody because nobody in my household seems to be particularly interested. I woke up, went straight to the gym and did a full body workout for an hour, then drove back and made a super healthy lunch. Then I filmed a video, did a clothes wash, cleaned and tidied my room, changed my bed, filmed another video, decluttered my entire makeup collection, washed all my makeup brushes, washed myself and now I'm sat writing this. Considering yesterday I barely made it out of bed thanks to my good friend Anxiety, I'm pretty proud of myself.

FIVE LIFE CHANGING LESSONS I'VE LEARNED THIS YEAR

Blogger Lucy Love
While we may have only just reached the mid-point of 2018 (anyone else feel like it should still be January?) this year has already been hugely transformative for me. I think I've mentioned this on the blog before, but I tend to give myself an overall theme for each year to work towards, for example 'happiness' or 'health'. I decided on New Years Eve last year, that 2018 would be the year that I begin to transform as a person and rid myself of more than a few demons I've been carrying around with me for a long time.

A NEW TAKE ON AN OLD CLASSIC

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
When the majority of your wardrobe is black, sometimes it can be hard to make certain items stand out. I think this is why I typically favour a slogan t-shirt with 90% of outfits, an interesting silhouette when I'm feeling particularly confident, or if I'm being really experimental I might even clash a few different textures together. I know, shock horror.

BODY CONFIDENCE AND SUMMER DRESSING

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
A year ago, I probably wouldn't have posted these photos. That probably seems crazy to a lot of people and even I'm sat here scratching my head and trying to work out why, but I just know I wouldn't have done. I'd have found fault with how short my legs look, with how much weight I've put on since I started blogging. With my lack of abs, slightly larger upper arms or the fact that I've put weight on in my face too. And while I can still see all those things, I'm finding it wonderfully refreshing that I actually, quite frankly, don't give a fuck anymore.

COSY LUXE

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
If you are an OG reader of this here blog, you've probably heard me mention on more than one occasion that comfort is one of my number one requirements when it comes to a piece of clothing. Now don't get me wrong, we're all aware by now that I like the glam looks and to look a little boujee but comfort is still king and if I can get away with wearing a pair of joggers and trainers every day then you can bet your bottom dollar that is exactly what I'll do.

MY INABILITY TO JUST LET THINGS *BE* - WHY I'M ALWAYS RUSHING MY LIFE AWAY

UK fashion blogger Lucy Love
I think as small children we all look forward to the time when we will be 'grown up'. Whether that be a teenager, so glamorous to us back then, or whether that be yearning for adulthood and getting away from the authority of school and parents, we all dreamed of the day when we'd be able to do our own thing, be our own person and start forging our own way in the world.

HARDCORE PRAWN CO.

UK Fashion Blogger Lucy Love
I feel like I've spent a lot of time recently talking about deep and meaningful topics on this here blog, so today we're going to strip it back and just focus on the outfit. I often feel the most at home writing posts like this because it reminds me of the early days of blogging where I'd relay some sort of amusing anecdote with self-deprecating humour and then bang on about what I was wearing for a few sentences before signing off again.

THE SUMMER LUXURY BEAUTY EDIT - NEW IN PRODUCTS I'M REACHING FOR EVERY DAY

UK blogger Lucy Love talks luxury beauty staples for summer
I've never really been a beauty writer as such, and therefore I've shied away a little from featuring it on the blog on a regular basis. Sometimes I feel like it's easier to talk about fashion if you don't have any formal experience in the industry because although it is competitive and can be quite judgemental, if you're talking about your personal style you can very much get away with talking about what you like and why you like it rather than discussing the technical aspects of the material or fit.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING SELFISH (SOMETIMES)

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
Firstly, welcome to the first post on the new look LJLV! This is a redesign that has been a long time coming, but I wanted to make sure I found the right template this time that really embraced everything I wanted for this site. I went through so many different options before finally settling on this one which embraces some of my favourite classic blog features while also simultaneously looking quite editorial and magazine-esque to celebrate the changes in my wardrobe and wider personal life.

A FORMAL SUMMER UNIFORM

Fashion blogger Lucy Love

Usually, I dread summer. Mostly because I can never find anything on the high street that I like to wear so I'm stuck trying to make my winter wardrobe work for the warmer months, and also because the heat makes me irritable when I don't have a swimming pool to cool off in, unlimited free cocktails, and the knowledge that I don't have to go into the office for an extended period of time.

GIVE YOURSELF A TRY

UK fashion blogger Lucy Love

Would I even be me if I didn't name blog posts after each new The 1975 release? No, no I would not. *patiently waits for October & the release of Music for Cars*

Continuing with The 1975 theme for a sec (humour me) - I find it weirdly coincidental that the band that's potentially changed my life the most (it's a toss up between them and Enter Shikari at this stage) release new music every single time I'm going through some pivotal life change.

HOW TO NAIL YOUR BLOG PHOTOGRAPHY

Fashion blogger Lucy Love

I've been writing this little blog for four whole years now, and I'm still not 100% sure where the time has gone. What I am sure of however, is how much my content has improved over those four years. Now granted, some of that will be down to learning what sort of clothes actually suit me rather than going for literally anything and throwing horrendous outfits together just to get a snap, and some of it will be down to the natural ~maturity you (apparently) gain when getting older, but for me a lot of it comes with the improvement in the photography on this blog.
