It must be said, my wardrobe reads as both a tale of two cities (my life before London, and well, my life now) and also a tale of two styles. See, ever since I started my journey with fashion and with this blog I’ve been at the liberty of my two style identities. For anyone who’s been here since the beginning, you’ll have seen my initial transformation between someone who had absolutely no idea what they were doing with style, to someone who decided to embrace the alternative fashion she loved so much and put a sports-luxe spin on it. However on the flip side, there’s the girl in me who adores designer, who loves luxury, and who likes to show this through more sophisticated tailoring and a more mature wardrobe.
So what does a girl do when her style is so often at war with itself? I’ve spoken a lot on this blog about learning to embrace both my alternative side and the luxury lover in me, and while when I’m buying my clothes I’m still drawn to the more sporty and alternative pieces, I adore adding more tailored and sophisticated items to my collection too. My usual go-to to dress up my alternative? The simple black blazer adds a touch of sophistication to any outfit from jeans to shorts to fishnets. However what to wear when your blazer is in the wash?
This gorgeous oatmeal knit from Romwe did the trick for me in some kinda way when teamed with my tailored black shorts from Look of the Day. I really loved the sophistication it brought to my outfit while still ensuring I remained warm on a cold October day. It was one of those hair days so my Primark bobble hat was a necessity and I thought it was about time I brought these beautiful River Island boots back to the blog.
On the flip side, fully embracing my alternative side requires mesh – and lots of it. I love nothing more than wearing a super sporty mesh tee with a statement bralet underneath it, and these check Zara trousers just added to it with their super sporty racer stripe down the side.
But the real way I tied these outfits together? The accessories of course! I was lucky enough to have Ice Watch reach out to me about taking part in their Halloween themed #naughtybutnICE campaign featuring the gorgeous Ice Glam watches in contrasting colours. How best to bring these contrasting watches to you than by talking about my contrasting style?! For me, the white watch embodies everything sleek and expensive that I love while the black brings out the edgier side to my personality.
