I will hold my hands up, winter fashion and winter in general is my favourite. There is nothing I like more than layering up in warm jumpers, coats and scarves, and that bitter morning chill in the air that brings with it whispers of the exciting things to come. So yes, I am that particularly annoying person on social media that begins to get a little excited this time of year because I’m fully aware that next month ends in -ember which means we’re so close to all of my favourite holidays and experiences.
Embers aside, this time of year also brings with it the tricky topic of transitional dressing. Try saying that when you’re a few proseccos down. Granted, this is something we don’t really have to concern ourselves with until the end of the month but I am nothing if not prepared and have therefore begun to cultivate my perfect transitional wardrobe.
For me this looks like cropped sweaters such as this absolute favourite of mine from Missguided, short sleeved sweaters (can you notice a trend appearing?), wide legged trousers and skirts. Wide legged trousers are always a favourite as they’re usually breezy enough to stop you overheating in potential sunny spells but at the same time cover your skin completely so you’re not at the mercy of colder climes, and I believe the sweaters and skirts speak for themselves in terms of practicality (assuming of course that you’re wearing tights with the latter…)
As a kind of test run for the transitional season, I decided to style up the first of my almost Autumn outfits in the form of this amazing Gucci sweater dupe from Missguided (no longer available sorry baes) and my old faithful Urban Outfitters a-line skirt. I love an a-line skirt as I find them so super flattering on my figure. This one is slightly on the short side so I have never, and would never, attempt to wear it without tights and for me heels or boots are always, always the order of the day.
Are you considering your transitional wardrobe yet? Do you have any ride or die pieces? Let me know!
