Ok so here’s the deal, until recently, I’ve never really been a Gucci lover.
Now please, don’t hate me – I promise I’m going to redeem myself here, but up until the current blogger shoe of choice, the Gucci loafer, exploded onto the scene this year they had always been a designer that I had on my radar but never really loved. When I’m considering investing in a designer piece, it has to be something I’m seriously desperate for, a designer that I’d sell my soul for, and so far Gucci just hasn’t hit that spot.
Until now. Or really last month if you want to be specific.
When I’m lacking in style inspiration, blog inspiration, or really just need a kick up the bum to remind me what I’m hustling for, I read my favourite blogs. I look at the photos, how these gorgeous gals are styling their outfits, how they’re posing, how they’re framing their shots and I use that as inspiration. It was on one of these such blog binges that I visited one of my long time favourites, Native Fox, and saw this gorgeous Gucci t-shirt. Not long after that, I was watching Girlboss and saw Sophia wearing the sweater version and it was then that I knew. More than anything, I needed that sweater in my life. Needed it. Would sell my soul to the devil for it.
Luckily for my soul, I didn’t need to do any such thing as I found a totally affordable and undeniably gorgeous dupe on Missguided. Yup, you read that right, Missguided. Home of fabulously affordable fashion, I spied this ‘Harlem Good Girls’ cropped sweater and had it in my basket and paid for within about 30 seconds flat. I then proceeded to wear it all weekend and ever since I’ve had total separation anxiety – it’s without a doubt my new favourite wardrobe item.
In homage to Girlboss for inspiring me to buy my Gucci sweater-a-like, I headed into Soho on Sunday for a totally grungey vintage inspired shoot, helped massively by the lovely guys at Goldsmith Vintage on Brewer Street letting me use the interior of their shop. What babes. If you’re ever in the area you must visit as their clothes are freakin’ stunning and I mean I found a vintage Dior coat in there the other day. Vintage Dior. Just gonna leave you with that…
