So, let me tell you a story. Two weeks ago, I was casually minding my own business when I checked my emails on my lunch break at work. Imagine my sheer joy when I saw that an email from Boohoo had landed in my inbox asking me to take part in their Blogger X Dress of the Month (DOTM) campaign for February.
Boohoo are a brand I’ve wanted to collaborate with the minute I knew that blogger collaborations existed, and I have dreamed for years of such an email coming my way. The Dress of the Month campaign involves Boohoo picking one secret dress that they send to a selection of bloggers to style. This dress might not be one of your usual wardrobe choices, and thats the beauty of the challenge.
When I got my dress through, it took me a while to figure out how I wanted to wear it as it was so out of my comfort zone. The dress that Boohoo sent me is the Beatrix Stripe Wide Cuff Shirt Dress* and I was super pleased when I saw it. Although wildly out of my comfort zone I do adore shirt dresses and I was excited to try and style it up in my own little way. When I got it out of the bag however I realised how long it was, and unfortunately due to my being what can only be described as vertically challenged, it didn’t quite look right being styled as a dress.
After much umm-ing and ahhh-ing and discussion with Joseph, I decided to style it as I would do a normal shirt – tied loosely at the waist giving a formal edge to an otherwise typically grungey ensemble and I absolutely loved it. In fact, I loved it that much I couldn’t resist filming a mini lookbook or a ‘1 minute look’ to accompany this post. Watch it below or you can watch it on Youtube here (and don’t forget to subscribe).
What do you think of the shirt dress? How would you have styled it? Let me know in the comments below and don’t forget you can shop from Boohoo’s amazing range of dresses here.
