You know when you dream up an outfit in your head and you love it, but then you put it on and you’re not so sure until you see the pictures and you bloody love it again? This was me in this head to (almost) toe Zara ensemble.
For long term readers of LJLV, you’ll know how much I love faux leather joggers. They take the humble exercise trouser and turn it into something so much more sophisticated. Dress them down with a pair of trainers for a casual Sunday look, but whack on a pair of stilettos and you’re in full on sports-luxe territory. I can be forgiven for not wearing stilettos here however, as they do not make great companions for a day walking around London (take it from someone with experience).
These particular faux leather joggers are (I think) the new star of my wardrobe – in the trouser department at least. I am rather well endowed in the booty department, and 10+ years of Irish dancing has given me very defined leg muscles, so usually my leather joggers kinda fit really close to the leg however this pair actually feel a little baggy on me which makes a really nice change. They’re also lined with a super soft, almost suede style material which makes them really comfortable to wear as there is no chance of them sticking to my legs in hot/wet weather, and no Ross from Friends episodes trying to get them off and on.
(For anyone who hasn’t seen that episode – click here. You won’t be disappointed)
I also really like that these have quite a shine to the finish – leather joggers, trousers and jackets that I’ve had in the past have all had a matte finish to them, whereas these kinda remind me of PVC and I adore it. I’m going to have so much fun styling them up this year and this certainly will not be the last you see of them on here FYI.
This jacket was another star of the Zara sales for me – I seemed to do really well with Zara this January! I wasn’t intending to go for another jacket as I already have two leather jackets and a bomber jacket in London with me, but then I saw this in all its leather look, studded and embroidered beauty and nearly had palpitations. It’s a size larger than I would normally go for but I bought it anyway because 1) I really, really wanted it and it was the last small size, and 2) because I reasoned that I can at least fit sweaters underneath it if I want to. #logic
Finally the bag. THE BAG. I mean for a bookworm like me, any bag shaped even remotely like a book is going to be a winner, but the slogan and all round alternative witchy vibes just had this calling my name. I couldn’t resist, and when I saw on Christmas Day that it had been reduced in the sales I was hardly not going to buy it. I mean really.
What do you think of the leather joggers? How would you have styled them? Let me know in the comments below.
