I know my posts have been a little sporadic again recently – I apologise for that, I really do. Although I’ve found a posting schedule that gets me excited to blog, I’m also juggling a busy work calendar and now I’m socialising once a week (my Manchester friend count has gone from 2 to 4 now – yay!!) it’s been a little tricky to keep on top of things. But I’m not working away again for another 2 weeks and I’m currently feeling more than a little sorry for myself as I’m lying in bed with a poorly tummy so what better way to take my mind off things than a little blogging on a Sunday afternoon?
And a bit of video editing, but that’s for another post entirely.
You all know my struggles when it comes to my height. It’s been more than well documented on this here blog over the last year, and although I’ve recently come to the conclusion that I need to start being unapologetically myself – and this includes acknowledging and accepting my abject pixie-ness – it nevertheless does not change the fact that finding a maxi dress that does not swamp me/make me look like I’m wearing a sack/make me disappear completely in a haze of fabric, any easier. It’s bloody difficult. *silently curses legs for not being 4 inches longer*
I’d almost given up the search entirely for my perfect summer maxi until I walked into H&M a few weeks ago and found this little beauty. Just the right amount of sheer vs chiffon, with some detailed paneling and a cheeky slit up each side of the skirt, this dress satisfies all of my hippie, summer, festival, floaty cravings. I mean I don’t even know what my style is anymore it’s changed so much since January but I don’t even care, this dress is p e r f e c t. Not only have I worn it to death on warm evenings, it’s also accompanied me during the day and will definitely be taking pride of place in my holiday wardrobe (5 weeks and counting!). You can’t wear a bra with it FYI (or so I’ve found) so just let that be a word of warning to you, but tbh I don’t have much going on in the chest department so this is hardly a worry for me. Teamed with my fave H&M necklace (similar), Shop Dixi cuff (similar) and new-found favourite ring courtesy of the Mother’s recent trip to Greece, and yeah ok I will also admit that I’m wearing my fab New Look court shoes here as well but I have worn this with flats too guys, promise 😉
