So my leaving home apparently warranted an emotional leaving meal akin to something you’d expect if you were moving to…oh I dunno. The Arctic.
I moved 40 minutes up the motorway.
But I’m not complaining because it meant I got to eat out at my favourite restaurant at home – Piste.
Piste is a little alpine themed wine bar in the heart of rural Tarporley, boasting not only one of the most aesthetically pleasing interiors you could wish for (these photos don’t do it justice, you need to see it for yourself) but also an incredible variety of alcohol and a menu of food so delicious I feel the need to work my way through the entire thing. Twice.
I was still deep in the throes of tonsillitis and laryngitis (thanks Fury Fest mate, I owe you one) so I didn’t feel like a huge portion or anything too heavy. The Mountain Menu was the perfect option for me, offering smaller portions, and in particular this absolutely heavenly sea bass dish which I think I might have devoured in about 30 seconds flat. Obviously dessert needed to happen as well because duh.
Treacle tart. Just wow. I mean where are emojis on a laptop when you need them? FYI I would be expressing my sheer joy and appreciation for this tart with a row of ‘ok symbol’ emojis. Did that even make sense? I dunno. I’m so tired I can’t think straight.
So basically, if you’re after exquisitely cooked food, great alcohol, a beautiful interior and all at a pleasantly affordable price this is where you need to go. Immediately. Now. Go.
