Home Sweet Home Manchester

So it appears that this blog is becoming a homage to food.
I mean I have 3 other food related posts ready to go and they don’t seem likely to stop any time soon. And I wonder why I’ve put weight on since I moved to Manchester… but I really can’t help it when there are SO MANY good places to eat!

Like Home Sweet Home for example.

I’ve wanted to try Home Sweet Home for literally years, but it’s just never happened for me until two weekends ago when my friend Luke and I went for lunch. I was just expecting cake, I didn’t even realise they did ‘proper food’ too but oh wow they really do. So basically I ate all of the food. ALL OF IT.

After taking a good 20 minutes to actually decide what I wanted I went for the veggie bean burrito simply because it had fries INSIDE the burrito, but I was sorely tempted by the cheeseburger toastie (yes really) and choosing between the two was actually painful. Luke went for a typically meat filled burger and the two of us sat in great anticipation waiting for the food to arrive.

And my god was it worth it. The portions weren’t too big for me either which is always a plus point because my tiny appetite insists on thwarting me whenever multiple courses of delicious food are on offer and I managed to devour a good 3/4 of my burrito before I remembered I needed to save a bit of room for the sensational looking cake I’d spied on the way in.

I was so glad I did – as it was I had to take the cake home in a doggy bag (best doggy bag ever) but I was honestly in my own little slice (waaaaaay) of heaven. 3 tiers of sheer chocolatey goodness with a mixture of aero, chocolate orange, biscuit, oreo, rolo, malteser and every other type of chocolate you can think of topping it, my slice of Choc Junkyard was quite possibly the nicest thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. Luke’s oreo cake wasn’t too shabby either, but I only got to try the most miniscule bite before he got stuck in – it didn’t last long.

I already can’t wait to go back. And eat more cake. And try the Cheeseburger toastie…
