After reading Kate’s review on these lip pencils last week, and subsequently learning that Boots were having a 3 for 2 deal on all Maybelline products, I knew that an expensive lunch hour was on the horizon.
Now, I bought a NARS Satin Lip Pencil at the end of last month, which has quickly become one of my favourite items in my makeup collection, however retailing at £18 it is pretty damn pricey, so when Kate described these as the perfect dupe and at a fraction of the price I had to pick some up.
I decided on three of the six colours in the end, however I could have quite easily come home with all six of them since the colours are absolutely gorgeous! I’d been wanting to go back to NARS ever since buying my Satin Lip Pencil last month, to get a pale pink shade. I wanted something fairly neutral and understated as the only pink shades I have in my collection so far are pretty bold (*cough* Candy Yum Yum *cough*) but when I saw the shade ‘Minimalist’ in Boots, all worries of that price tag shot out of the window and it somehow found its way into my basket…
These pencils are so pigmented and creamy, and I was super surprised as to how long wearing they are as well! The above picture of me wearing Minimalist was taken after going out for a meal – I’d deliberately only applied one coat before leaving the house, and hadn’t taken it with me to replenish either as I’d wanted to see how well the pencils stayed on during the day. I have to say that they weren’t quite as creamy as the NARS pencils are to apply, with a bit more pressure being needed to really transfer the colour onto the lip, but for £4.99 each I’m not complaining!
I couldn’t resist picking up the really bold Fuchsia Desire, which is actually a fab dupe for MAC’s Please Me, and which is proving a popular choice in the mornings before work. I’m amazed that one coat is enough to last for the whole day!
I also couldn’t resist the perfect Autumnal shade, which I found in Berry Much. I’d been after a really good transitional shade to carry me through into Winter – something that warmed my face and made me think of log fires, dark nights and comfort foods, and surprisingly I managed to find all that in this particular lip pencil! Crazy huh?
Will you be picking up any of these pencils? What is your favourite shade?
