A fashion & lifestyle blog

I started 2014 full of hope for a better year. I didn't want to set too many resolutions that I knew wouldn't be kept, so instead I decided that I would set myself two goals for the year, things that I really wanted to change in my life.

The first was to make more memories with my friends. 2013 was a year dedicated to a very toxic relationship and therefore when we got to New Years Eve and everyone was posting those instagram videos of their years with their friends, it made me sad as I had no memories with the people most important to me, no pictures, nothing to remember the year by. I vowed that in 2014 I would spend more time with those closest to me, cherish them and collect as many photos and souvenirs from the year that I could.

Remembering times spent with those closest to you is such an important thing that I think we all probably take for granted, but one day our lives will have passed us by. We'll be in the twilight years of our lives and by that point all we'll have is our memories, those pictures that may have seemed so trivial in the past will then become so important. Those names and faces that may have faded from our lives will still be prominent in our memories.

My other aim was to get rid of my anxiety disorder. Something a little less easy to achieve but no less important, I wanted to live a life unencumbered by such a crippling illness. I wanted to be able to go out with my friends, experience new places, eat meals in restaurants and feel like a normal 20-something girl rather than being crippled with panic attacks as soon as I left the house.

And I'm so pleased to say that I have achieved both things! Looking through my polaroids from the year today, I've felt so nostalgic and so unbelievably happy to be blessed with a group of incredible friends and family and for the year that I've had, and I cannot wait for the next one - it's only going to get better.

Funny how you can live in a house for 8 years and have only just discovered this little alley way behind it - so perfect for taking pictures and a nice change from the road outside! I mean, it's still not quite the backdrop I'd like, but you have to do the best with what's available to you - am I right?!

Now that Christmas is out of the way I'm praying for the warmer weather to hurry itself up, therefore in an effort to cajole it along, I am back to wearing t-shirts outside and trying to kid myself that its actually over 10 degrees. In a nod to the winter weather though I am still very much living in beanies and in particular this fab AKA beanie gifted to me by my wonderful Secret Santa from the Ladbrokes Bingo Blogger Christmas Party. It really is so cosy, and since the majority of my wardrobe just so happens to be monochrome I can style it with pretty much everything!

I haven't worn this statement t-shirt from Boohoo in a while, but thought that, combined with my River Island bodycon skirt and Topshop sandals it would be the perfect combination to take me through to January.

I thought that it was about time I did a post dedicated to the lovely ladies who inspire me on a daily basis through their blogs and their outfits. Now, the blogs linked in this post are all my favourite fashion/personal style blogs - I just want to make the point that I read and adore a lot of beauty, lifestyle and literature bloggers as well and intend to do a similar post dedicated to those lovely ladies and gentlemen at a later date <3 So without further ado...

I think by now we're all aware of Zoe's amazing blog and style, and I highly doubt I'm the only one with her on my blog inspiration list! Not only does she post some incredible outfits,  but her advice posts are second to none and I find a lot of the things she posts not only incredibly insightful but also very inspiring, such as this post on why we should smile more at strangers on the tube.

Another of the well known bloggers, I adore Amy for everything from her flawless style to her hilarious way of writing, to her wonderfully accurate videos on short people problems. Hers is the kind of wardrobe I spend 90% of my time wishing I possessed, and her outfit photos are nothing short of stunning.
Rachel's minimalistic style is absolutely everything I crave for my own wardrobe. Everything she styles is just so individual, and I've never seen anyone pull off a totally monochrome wardrobe quite as well as her! Not only that but she is a truly lovely person taking me under her wing at recent events!
Every single outfit she posts is totally flawless and has me almost green with envy. I'd love to be able to carry off a furry crop top even half as well as she does, and wish that my outfit combinations could be anywhere near as edgy! But I can live in hope :)
Portia's blog is one that I've only recently discovered but has become a firm favourite. Everything from her perfect outfits to amazing photography is incredible and I'd love to one day be lucky enough to shoot with her.

India's blog has been a constant source of inspiration to me for years, being the first fashion blog I ever actually read. Her style is just so perfect and absolutely epitomises the way that I would love to dress on a daily basis, and if my blog photography could look even half as flawless I would be a very happy girl.

This post is so super late, so for that I apologise!! I was lucky enough to be invited to the Ladbrokes Bingo Bloggers Christmas Party earlier in the month, and it was such a great evening! Despite a slight panic when I found out on the day that the event was actually +1 and I had no-one to go with, plus arriving super late and having to leave early thanks to trains, I had such a brilliant time and Ladbrokes had organised such a wonderful night.

With festive manicures on offer, photobooth props for a proper #SantaSelfie, the best buffet I've laid my eyes (and hands) on in a while and of course the all important Secret Santa event we were entertained all night - and the free prosecco definitely helped as well!

The Secret Santa event was definitely the highlight of the night however - we were each sent the blog address of our Secret Santa a few weeks prior to the event, and were tasked with buying a present for that blogger based on their blog content. I wish I could say who I bought for, as I've seen her blog post on the event and she was so happy with what I got her and I'm so, so pleased! I was lucky enough to receive a fab beanie by AKA Clothing which I absolutely love and you'll be seeing in my next outfit post - my Secret Santa definitely got it absolutely spot on so I just wanted to say a huge thank you to whichever lovely blogger got me, and a massive thank you to Ladbrokes Bingo for inviting me <33

This will be my last post until after Christmas now guys, I'm going to have a few days break from the internet (although I'm sure I'll still be on Instagram and Twitter) to spend some much needed time with the family. I should be back and posting again on the 28th however.

So until then, have a brilliant Christmas/holiday period full of good food and good company! <33

So it's no secret that I've lost my blogging mojo a bit at the moment, and I'm not sure why. It's not like I don't enjoy blogging or putting together outfits, filming videos or even writing about it all. I think it's more lacking the motivation to actually sit down and put it all together to create the end result. Therefore, I decided to put together a post about the one place that inspires me more than any other - New York City. The week in New York changed my life in so many ways, and I spend most days dreaming about returning - entertaining wild fantasies about living in a studio apartment in Brooklyn with huge feature windows looking out over Manhattan, exposed brick walls covered with my art, and curling up in a window seat with a cup of coffee, surveying everything and writing about it all.

This isn't helped of course with the influx of recent bloggers going to NY on holiday, their photos are so gorgeous and make me so jealous that I desperately need to fill the void with my own. So this is going to be a particularly photo heavy post showcasing the best 5 days in my life, and including a rather unflattering picture of my 19 year old self. Oh how times change (let me know what you think to the dark hair, I'm so tempted at the moment to dye it back it's unreal).

I am more than a little excited for Christmas shenanigans now, all the presents are wrapped and hidden away, I've already eaten my body weight in chocolate and I'm just so excited to give my parents their gifts now. It's actually my favourite moment of the year watching them open what I've bought for them, especially as this year will probably be the last year I can really spoil them (until I'm a millionaire obvs) because I'll be moving into my own place next year and definitely won't be able to afford it.

I've finished work for 2 weeks now as well which is good! I've needed a couple of weeks off just to switch off and relax, it had gotten to the stage where I was dreaming of work last week because there was just so much going on and I was so stressed that I couldn't even switch off in my sleep, so 2 weeks away from the office is much needed even though I have had to bring some work home with me to do over Christmas.

It also means that I can get some outfit shots done in bulk ready for January. I'm trying to decide on a blog schedule for the New Year as I feel like this year has been a bit haphazard and all over the place. I love daily blogging but it's something that just doesn't work for me as I end up getting way too stressed over it while trying to work and have a social life as well, so I'm debating keeping it to 2 outfit posts, my Sunday post and one miscellaneous post a week but we'll see what the New Year brings.

I also read a really thought provoking article this morning (here) which has struck a chord with me and got me thinking about my own levels of social media consumption and how I've let it affect my daily life. I think everyone nowadays is guilty of comparing their lives with others around them, and especially in the blogging and YouTube world, but I never before realised the levels in which I do it and how unhappy it actually makes me. It's something I'm going to be considering a lot going into 2015, I really need to make some changes.

Considering I'm feeling decidedly ache-y and sorry for myself, tonight seemed the perfect night to post about my usual evening 'attire'. Now, I use the word attire very loosely here. I mean what I'm wearing is undeniably clothes, however on an evening after a busy day in the office the last thing I tend to care about is my appearance, and I've got to the stage where I get in, the makeup comes off (although I'm doing a no makeup makeup look for this post...shh), the hair goes up and I just throw on anything comfortable that comes to hand.

I thought that really, considering that I'm supposed to be showing you what I wear on a daily/regular basis that it was only fair to show this side of my wardrobe, and then I found these Hogwarts joggers from Primark and really any choice I once had went straight out of the window. They needed to be shown, I mean hello?! HOGWARTS JOGGERS. I'm not going to lie, I also bought the matching sweater, however I thought wearing both at once might look a little on the crazy fangirl side of things, and although I am a crazy Harry Potter fan I'd like to keep some sort of credibility, therefore my NYPD t-shirt that I picked up in New York a few years ago had to suffice instead.

Finally, to keep my little toes warm this winter this pair of pug slippers from Primark could not be left on the shelf! Although I'm not too sure my dogs like them, I think they think the pugs are real and have appeared over the Christmas period to steal their stockings and eat their treats. I've tried telling them they have no need to worry but they remain rather suspicious.

Has anyone else had Uptown Funk permanently stuck in their head for the last two weeks or is it just me? It doesn't help that every time I turn on the radio it's the first thing I hear but it really is just so damn catchy.

So my current obsession with sportswear continues. I feel like really, I should just live in trainers and gym clothes permanently, they're honestly the most comfortable clothes I've ever really worn and when you wear them you can just move y'know?! I actually remarked to my friend (who very kindly took these photos for me on Saturday) that it actually didn't feel like I was wearing anything on my bottom half which earned me an alarmed look. But these Honour Over Glory sports leggings really are the comfiest things known to man, and they have been on my wishlist for ages. I never really feature outerwear on here, but even I have to admit it's just too cold to go out without a coat on now. I really wanted a plain black trench coat to create a similar silhouette to a classic Burberry trench, but since I am royally skint from now until January I had to make do with wearing this Boohoo number I bought at the start of the year. It may not quite be a classic trench coat, but it isn't half bad (and the faux leather paneling is really rather sexy).

My mesh top from Missguided simply can't be worn without something underneath it, unless you want to be arrested for indecent exposure of course, and so I popped on this little sports bra also by Honour Over Glory underneath it, which really finished off the outfit for me. You can actually get both the leggings and sports bra for just £30 on their website at the moment using the code 'GYM-ME' if you are that way inclined.

Oh and yes, the backpack has returned, and no, I am not sorry ;)

"..i can't exist within my own head, so I insist on haunting your bed"

Deciding to name this post after my current favourite song, and subsequently quoting my favourite lyrics like the little emo kid I truly am at heart was something I simply couldn't resist. I'm slowly beginning to feel like myself again which is refreshing, and this means that I'll be back to regular posting (especially considering I have two weeks off beginning on Friday) so all in all I am one happy little camper.

I absolutely loved this outfit. I've always been scared of getting a pair of mom jeans because I thought that they wouldn't flatter me, however one of my lovely best friends very kindly gave me these on a recent trip to London and I absolutely love them. Although they're slightly tight (the inevitable Christmas weight gain has apparently already begun) when I begin my detox in the New Year it shouldn't be a problem!

I decided to style them with my favourite Adidas t-shirt that I got from Urban Outfitters a few weeks ago, and it was actually the perfect comfortable combination. This is exactly the kind of outfit that I'd wear to go Christmas shopping in (incidentally, I think it was actually the outfit I wore to go Christmas shopping in...) as it is just so wearable. I of coursed teamed them with my favourite Nike Roshe Runs which I don't think have actually left my feet since I bought them - in the metaphorical sense of course, I'm not that gross! What footwear are you loving this winter?

So, the Christmas tree is up, the festive tunes are blasting from the radio in the office, the Christmas jumpers have been worn and everything is starting to wind down ready for the festivities to begin, and I for one cannot wait to eat my body weight in chocolate and enjoy two weeks of uninterrupted bliss before 2015 begins in all its craziness!

I'm feeling much better this week, and much more myself which I'm sure you'll all be glad to hear. My motivation is still at an all time low however, I think it may have something to do with leaving for work in the dark and returning in the dark, my daylight hours being spent in the office leaving me with just Sunday to take blog pictures on. And when Sunday arrives? It's miserable and raining and all I actually want to do is stay in bed. For the first time ever I'm actually longing for the lighter evenings and better weather (I'm normally a real winter girl at heart) so that I can take pictures after work and have at least one day a week to relax and unwind.

That said, once work finishes for the year I will have much more free time to focus on blogging and YouTube again and I really cannot wait. I've got some awesome outfits which I am excited to show you over the next week though and for the first time in a long while I actually have some good outfit ideas rolling around in my head to shoot over the Christmas break. Busy as always! I hope you guys are having a brilliant weekend!

So I have done what I never thought would be possible. I have fallen victim to the floordrobe. I used to be one of those really annoying people that makes their bed every morning without fail and hangs their clothes up after wearing them no matter how drunk they are. The last couple of weeks however the clothes have been left where they fall after I get in from work, shedding them everywhere in a trail of chaos throughout my room. I think it's just got to that time of year when I'm so tired from being in the office all day and I know that Christmas is just around the corner with two blissful weeks off so I've just given up caring.

I couldn't for the life of me think what to style these gorgeous Leggsington joggers with, as I didn't want to go down the predictable crop top route seeing as it's all I seem to wear at the moment despite the Arctic temperatures outside (a "perk" of living up North). After routing through said floordrobe however, I came across this simple t-shirt from Boohoo and figured that wearing it casually knotted at the waist would compliment the loose and comfortable fit of the trousers, which were the second pair very kindly gifted to me by the brilliant Leggsington.

I think it actually creates a really interesting silhouette, drawing it in so tightly at the wait emphasises the curves of my hips and actually makes a quite androgynous look a lot more feminine. Teamed of course with my trusty Topshop court shoes and the whole outfit suddenly becomes much more 'dressy' and suitable for evening drinks or even a meal out if you're brave enough to risk the food baby scenario with a bare midriff. Unfortunately I'm just not that guy.
