GETTING SHIRTY

Fashion blogger Lucy Love
Oh guys, I never thought I'd see the day where my sartorial choices left the realms of all black sports luxe but here we are. Granted, this outfit is completely monochrome (my favourite colour combination) but it features another of my absolute favourite wardrobe staples - the statement shirt.

I used to think that a shirt and trouser combination was reserved solely for those in an office job, the super rich and stylish women you see swanning round Mayfair with Gucci on their arm and some form of tiny dog at their heels, or Mums getting dressed up for a day shopping. I'm not entirely sure when the humble shirt left the confines of mumsie and became stylish for me, but all of a sudden I find myself completely obsessed with finding statement shirts. My absolute dream would be to stumble across Gucci or Chanel at one of London's many vintage boutiques but unfortunately these pieces continue to remain out of my price range.

Therefore, I satisfy my cravings for all things statement by desperately perusing Topshop's latest new in section desperately seeking another piece to rival my favourite Pat Butcher-esque number from earlier in the year or this little grid print beauty that I picked up back in 2014.

Now I hate featuring products this old on the blog as I'd much rather show you things that you can still buy, however needs must and funds are tight and therefore I'm currently repurposing much of what has lain dormant in my wardrobe for the past 12 months or so, including these trousers and in actual fact these boots too. Now these trousers I bought from ASOS a little while ago and they were far too big for me however I missed the designated time I could send them back in (I am nothing if not lazy) and therefore they were here to stay. They now fit like a glove which I kinda feel is a bit of a double edged sword affair because on the one hand yay they fit, but on the other it clearly shows how much weight I've put on since May 2015...

I will always adore these beautiful Warehouse Chelsea boots - I was inspired to purchase them after seeing them on another blogger, and low and behold that winter they were in the Black Friday sale. They give me all of the Matt Healy/The 1975 vibes which I think is secretly why I love them so much, but mostly because, when worn with black trousers such as these, they help to elongate my hobbit legs and give me the leggy silhouette I wish I actually possessed.

No outfit is complete without the perfect accompanying jewellery, and this time it came in the form of this stunning watch from Ice-Watch. They very kindly emailed me last week and asked if I wanted to try a piece from their current collection - I was very tempted by the black version of this watch but I do have my beloved Daniel Wellington watch to fill that void so thought I would be a little more daring and branch out into a colour that hasn't seen the inside of my collection before. I chose this beautiful 'CITY Tanner Pink' piece with silver hardware - I adore the subtlety of the colour and the large face - its such a classic watch and I can't wait to wear it again.
