SUNDAY SLOGAN TEES AND POETRY

Manchester Fashion Blogger

I've always loved Sundays. Ever since I was a kid, Sunday has always been the most magical day of the week despite its close proximity to Monday - I'm not entirely sure why, but I think maybe it's because of everything Sunday stands for. Roast dinners, cosy lie in's, relaxation, baths, reading and most importantly, comfortable clothing.

Now that I live on my own, I don't have the luxury of  roast dinner or a bath (seriously, I am so INSANELY excited for trips home over the winter to indulge in these again) so I've had to develop a new Sunday routine of my own. The city can be a noisy and lonely place when you live alone, and the only noise you hear from fellow humans is the vague shouting from outside and your neighbours slamming doors, hoovering, playing music or making general loud, annoying noise - however Sunday is always slightly different.

I wake up late to the sound of church bells, not really awful EDM. There is very little traffic outside my window, and the train line that runs outside my flat is mercifully quiet. If I haven't showered the night before, I'll get straight in the shower, however if I'm already squeaky clean I like to make myself a coffee, get back under the covers and just absorb myself in being myself.

The most important things for my relaxation on a Sunday however, are clothing and reading material. I am a huge advocate of over sized shirts, comfortable underwear and a cheeky slogan. My 'lol ur not matt healy' t-shirt is my absolute favourite in my wardrobe. Not only is it hugely comfortable and pleasingly white, it makes me snort with laughter in a not entirely attractive way when I see it. Anyone who knows me well will know that Matty Healy is my one and only. I won't wax lyrical about The 1975 today, that's for another post, but Matty Healy is bae (I hate that word) and that's all you need to know.

Calvin Klein

('Scuse the body shots, don't want to offend anyone will my paleness and lack of abs)
Comfortable underwear is the one. And I mean the ONE. This Calvin Klein set is without a doubt my favourite underwear set in the entire world. It's so comfortable it actually doesn't feel like you're wearing any underwear at all, which I'm sure you'll all agree is the absolute dream, but also does create some worrying scenarios if you wear it out in public when you find yourself running to the nearest public toilet to make sure that you did actually remember to put underwear on. FYI: I've never left the house without underwear. Promise. OH and it's the absolute don when it comes to travel sets. You'll never know a flight as comfortable as the one when you wear this underwear.

Frank O'Hara
I love reading. I always have done since I was a very small child. I can't cope with existence if I don't have a book on the go and you can 1000% guarantee that I will have a book with me wherever I go (unless it's a night out...I'm not quite that dependent). Not only do I love reading fiction, and of course the ever wonderful i-D, but recently I have been expanding my cultural horizons (lol) by reading poetry, and in particular the works of the fabulous Frank O'Hara, my new fav. Everyone's tastes in literature differ, so these may not appeal directly to you, but I always think losing yourself in something whether it's a modern classic or a celebrity gossip magazine is an important start to a Sunday morning.

What are your Sunday essentials? Is there a particular routine you like to follow on Sunday mornings, does it feel like a special day to you?

I super want that underwear set. Like super duper really really want. It always looks so chic and comfy and great and just generally needs to be in my wardrobe.

    1. *Literally* it is the comfiest thing I've ever owned in my life.
You basically need it more than anything else. Except perhaps air...actually no. You need it more than you need air.
Also Sunday routines are the best, I become angsty when I don't get to have mine :') xo

  3. I felt so relaxed reading this, I sure do need a sunday routine. Today consisted of eating a lot and watching dexter, but now I think I need a slogan tee to top this all off.

    1. Dexter is the one! I've just started the last season and I'm basically unable to cope with daily living until I finish it. xo

  4. Ahh, I'm so jealous of your Sundays! I hate them - at about 2 o'clock I get so depressed that I've wasted my weekend and I have to go back to work (might be a sign its high time to get a new job)
Oversized, slogan tee's are the best thing ever though! (as are CK underwear! perf)

    1. Doing as little as humanly possible sounds the perfect way to spend a Sunday! I'm working an event this Saturday so that's exactly how I'm planning on spending my Sunday, although I may also take myself out for coffee if the weather is nice! xo

  8. Sundays to me are always blogging days. It's so comforting to just curl up in bed and read blogs with a nice cup of tea. Magazines, books, everything you mentioned is a definite essential for a Monday, and acoustic music as well. I'm grinning just reading this post!
