WHAT I WORE - 9 TIL 5

I figured that I've mentioned work and workwear on this blog that often that it was about time I actually showed you lovely lot the kind of thing I wear for a day in the office. Admittedly, the scarf isn't a usual feature but it's been cold and I've been that excited for winter to arrive that I couldn't resist wearing it with this little ensemble.

Admittedly, most of the stuff I'm wearing is super old, so I can't actually remember where some of it came from, however I was so desperate to finally feature this Boohoo coat on my blog that I decided to style the rest of the outfit pieces around it. I actually bought it towards the beginning of the year this year, typically when the weather was actually starting to improve so I haven't really had chance to wear it yet, but its the perfect overcoat for work in the winter. I wore this little Primark skirt (£3 guys!!) and teamed it with this (way too sheer) white blouse which was kindly donated to me from Mum. I like to keep things smart and simple for work, and so the addition of the tartan print scarf from River Island and the patent monk shoes from Primark really finished the outfit off.

What sort of things do you wear to the office?

THAT SUNDAY POST #1

First of all, I want to apologise for the silence from me over the last couple of days. I needed an internet and blog break, because, to quote Bilbo from The Hobbit (yes, I am one of those people) 'I feel thin. Like butter scraped over too much bread'.

I've been burning myself out recently trying to keep up with a very stressful full time job, going to the gym, doing 20+ hours on this blog a week and then trying to fit in time for myself and my friends and family - it's all become a little too much and I found myself becoming completely overwhelmed last week. So I decided to have a couple of days away, freshen up and come back with a clear head. That said, I've also decided that at present time posting 7 days a week just isn't feasible so I'll still be posting regularly, but more like 4 or 5 times a week instead.

Secondly, you'll notice the name of this post has changed. I've decided that doing 'That Monday Post' and 'Sunday Roundup' was a little silly really when I could fit the whole thing into one post every Sunday, so that is what I'll be doing from now on!

My aims for this week in that case are:

1) Find my replacement at work - seriously ready to fully absorb my new role now!
2) Film my September favourites video.
3) Buy my Dad's Christmas present and my perfect pair of knee boots for winter.

Now to go back to my relaxing day of films, Sims 4 and magazines - what do you all have planned for the rest of your Sunday?

WHAT LIES BENEATH...

Trust me to pick such a sinister title for post dedicated to something so sweet, delicate, utterly feminine and dare I say it... sexy(?!).

Underwear is something that I've noticed is rarely spoken about on blogs yet it's something that all of us wear whether we want to or not. Whether that's due to its personal nature or it just being 'not the done thing' I'm not sure, but I decided to break the trend a little and go all out with a post about these beautiful sets from Elle MacPherson Intimates.

WHAT I WORE - SUPERNOVA

I had a lot of fun taking these pictures this weekend. We went into the local village (I use the term lightly, it's practically a town) and I couldn't help but pose with the red telephone box. I mean it's not even slightly excusable, I'm clearly not a tourist - I went to school there, but I quite like how the pictures came out.

Rather than dressing like a total Cheshire girl (trust me, when you visit there it's SO tempting) I decided to don head to toe Trend Two in an attempt to recreate Saturday's casual luxe selection post. I was so worried that these joggers wouldn't flatter my figure as I find it so difficult to find slouch fit pants that do, but they're honestly the comfiest trousers I think I've ever worn and I definitely think they pass the flatter test.

I'd picked the trousers up at the #fightcancerwithfashion event last week, and got this gorgeous silver box fit top at the same time. When I picked it up I was so worried that I wouldn't know how to style it but it worked so well in this outfit I was so happy, and now I can't wait to style it up again with some other pieces this weekend. I might even make it a series, we all know I like a good series. As usual, my trusty Urban Outfitters backpack made an appearance, it's just so handy for lugging my SLR around with me, but I think with the amount of use it's getting it definitely won't stay white for long.

Do you like the way I styled these pieces? How would you have worn the top?

THAT MONDAY POST #2

A quick one from me this Monday, as I've only just got home after a very long day and I am quite frankly exhausted, so I want to curl up in bed and watch Glue (how good is it though?!) and catch up with a few blogs and then blissful, heavenly sleep.

I took this picture in a local village at the weekend, it was such a typical Autumn day, and I managed to get a really nice outfit shoot done which I'll be showing you all tomorrow.

So my aims for the week this week?

1) Spend minimal money (again). It's payday next week and I want to make sure I get my full paycheck, and not have half of it paying off my overdraft.
2) Sort my budget for next month so I know exactly how much I'm paying on Christmas presents and how much will be spent on clothes.
3) Sort my new blog name/layout/URL.

Easy aims for this week, hopefully even more achievable than last weeks offerings. And now, sleep!

SUNDAY ROUNDUP #2

Yes, that is Boohoo HQ. I couldn't resist snapping a quick picture like the ultimate fangirl when I went to the #fightcancerwithfashion event in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. I think I really fell in love with the Northern Quarter this week - I've never really explored further than Afflecks Palace and the Bbycks store (anyone else remember when that was a thing?!) so I'm excited to go back soon and really explore.

This week has been a really good, but really busy one for me, I literally feel like I haven't stopped since Monday morning, and the fact that it's Monday again tomorrow is freaking me out just a little bit. I also, feel super inspired this week, and not just with the blog. I've decided I really want to build up my photography portfolio again and with some shoots in mind already I absolutely can't wait to get started.

So I guess from my brief synopsis of my activities above, this week has been a success! But now, down to the nitty gritty. Have I actually stuck to my aims this week, unlike last week's shambolic attempt?

I can confirm wholeheartedly that I pretty much have! I only made the gym once which was a bit of a pain, but I've also spent minimal money and finally filmed a video on my camera. Not that it was wonderfully successful (gotta love technology eh?!) but I'm hoping with some clever editing and a few choice words aimed at my laptop I'll be able to edit it into some semblance of acceptability.

Finally, I have had a bit of a meaningful think about my blog this week, and I've come to the conclusion that my content jumps around too much. It doesn't follow one specific theme and I don't like that - out of all the things I like blogging about and talking about the most, it's definitely fashion and personal style so I'm going to be spending a lot more time on my style posts and the beauty and lifestyle might fade into the background a little. That's not to say that they won't be there at all, but from now on this blog will be more personal style focused. There will also be a slight design and URL change coming up soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

How has your weekend been?

SATURDAY SELECTION 11.0

casual luxe
It feels like quite a while since I've done one of these posts, and I suppose I have been slacking somewhat lately, but I've just had so many other things to show and tell you all recently that I've barely been able to keep up myself!

Another typical me outfit today, black and white with a hint of black and white, but I feel it just so perfectly sums up my style at the moment that I can't help but show more and more of it. I'm in love with these leather joggers by Giuseppe Zanotti, and only wish that I could afford such a high end brand! I'll make do with my lovely Trend Two satin joggers instead which will be making their first appearance on the blog next week! Teamed with a crisp, classic white shirt and a pair of court shoes, I think this outfit perfectly bridges the gap between style and comfort, and the addition of silver stacking rings to accessories perfectly finishes the outfit off.

It's funny, a year ago I wouldn't have dreamed of wearing anything above, I was so unsure of myself and of fashion in general. Amazing how things change huh?

I'm now going to eat lots of food, watch The X-Factor and then catch up on GBBO and GoT. How's your Saturday night shaping up?

WHAT I WORE - GHOST TOWN

My wonderful best friend Holly took these for me just before the #fightcancerwithfashion event on Wednesday, and I was so happy to finally get photos of this outfit. It's been a favourite of mine for quite a few weeks now, and I keep finding excuses to wear it yet never getting any pictures.

Again my Topshop grid print shirt has made an appearance, however this time I decided to be a bit adventurous and clash prints with my River Island crop top - I've also managed to break the exclusively monochrome trend my outfits have taken over the last few weeks, which is actually a little bit of a relief as I thought I was becoming too predictable. My River Island bodycon skirt has made another appearance, and I decided that the shirt would look great semi-tucked in to create a more casual look.

Have you been breaking any trend patterns recently?

#FIGHTCANCERWITHFASHION - BRANDED LAB EVENT

Remember when I said I had a really exciting week coming up? This was why! About a week ago, a very unexpected (but exciting!) email popped into my inbox from Branded Lab inviting me to their #fightcancerwithfashion event in Manchester. Hosting a great variety of brands including NaaNaa, Trend Two and Ruby Prom, and all clothes between £1-£5 with the proceeds going to Breast Cancer Research, it was something that I was so excited to get behind.

So many people now are affected by cancer, whether directly or indirectly, that its a charity that I think spoke to probably every blogger invited, and I was more than willing to hand over my money for such a good cause! There was also a fabulous makeup artist on hand to give brilliant advice, and demonstrate the perfect statement lip or smokey eye - something I don't think any girl can turn down!

I wasn't sure what to expect with it being my first ever blogger event, but Branded Lab put on such a fun evening that any nerves I had soon went out of the window! It was great seeing so many amazing bloggers out to support such a good cause too, and the clothes were absolutely gorgeous, I couldn't believe how many amazing pieces I managed to pick up (video coming soon!!) and getting to network with some of my favourite bloggers was so much fun.

Winning one of the raffle prizes was a definite highlight, as were the gorgeous free cakes and juice samples, so I want to say a massive thank you to Branded Lab for inviting me and putting on such a wonderful event!

And now for the photos!

WHAT I WORE - SHE WAY OUT

And so the lack of colour in my wardrobe continues... I grabbed these photos before heading out for celebratory drinks with my parents last week. My promotion at work was confirmed on Monday, and from the 1st October I am officially the marketing co-ordinator for the company I work for! Definitely a happy Monday morning surprise!

Yet again, my The 1975 t-shirt made an appearance, this time with these beautiful little shorts I picked up from River Island which you can see in my mini workwear haul here, which were a treat to myself for not going overboard on the spending (ahem). They're so comfortable, and I'm currently obsessed with wearing high waisted items as I'm a little larger around my hips and bum and find that with my short legs as well, regular waist trousers, shorts and jeans look ridiculous on me. I couldn't decide what to wear on my feet, but finally settled on these Rocketdog boots that I've had for absolutely years. I bought them to wear in New York over Christmas, and they're so comfortable. I can walk for miles in them, and with their fluffy inner lining they keep your feet so warm - something I didn't really consider in this practically balmy September weather, so I will admit that my feet were way too hot. Perfect winter boots though!

What have you guys been wearing in this weirdly warm weather (yay alliteration!) recently?

MAYBELLINE COLOUR DRAMA LIP PENCILS

After reading Kate's review on these lip pencils last week, and subsequently learning that Boots were having a 3 for 2 deal on all Maybelline products, I knew that an expensive lunch hour was on the horizon.

Now, I bought a NARS Satin Lip Pencil at the end of last month, which has quickly become one of my favourite items in my makeup collection, however retailing at £18 it is pretty damn pricey, so when Kate described these as the perfect dupe and at a fraction of the price I had to pick some up.

THAT MONDAY POST #2

So in between obsessively watching Season 1 of Orange is the New Black (I finished last night. OHMYGOD) and reading LFW posts from the comfort of my bed eating junk food (so fashun right?!) I've been thinking of what my goals for the coming week could possibly be. Since I completely failed in my aims with last week, I figured this week's goals should probably be a little more attainable, especially with my being super lazy at home at the moment.

1) Spend as little money as possible. Seriously, my budget for this month went way out of the window when I did my lil' Primark haul, and I now really need to be careful for the rest of the month because I don't want to end up in my overdraft AGAIN, so, I've decided that I'm going to do absolutely nothing this weekend aside from stay home, walk my dogs and take pictures.

2) Go to the gym at least twice. I've been so lazy with exercise recently. With work being so crazy I've had to stop competitive dance, and I haven't actually managed to get to a class since they started again 3 weeks ago, so I need to make sure I keep up with the gym so I don't end up too lazy.

3) ACTUALLY FILM MY VIDEO. I'm so bad at remembering to film its ridiculous, so that's going to be another of my weekend activities!

What lovely things do you guys have planned for the week ahead?

SUNDAY ROUNDUP #1

On Monday, I made a new post promising a roundup each Sunday of my 'achievements' that week. I use the term achievements loosely, as most of them were just things I would like to actually get done that week as opposed to sitting and binge watching Orange is the New Black every evening and spending far too much time on The Sims 4 (I may or may not be addicted.)

I had decided that this week I would like to achieve going on a night out without having any anxiety problems, filming a new YouTube video and actually using my camera rather than my laptop, and doing some non-blog related photography.

Unfortunately, I can only say that I achieved my goal of going on a night out without having an anxiety attack (which is a pretty huge achievement in all honesty) and will admit that I did in fact spend the rest of  the time tucked up in bed when I got home from work binge watching Orange is the New Black. I'm nearly at the end of Season 1 now though guys and it really is just too good.

So I don't really know whether or not that made my aims for the week a total failure? I'd like to think not, as I have had an incredibly busy week and haven't really had the energy in the evenings to go out with my camera or to video anything. This week should be equally busy and exciting, but I'm hoping that I'll get a lot more done including a bit of an Instagram roundup of the week as well on Sunday evening, so keep your eyes peeled!

What have you been up to this week?

WHAT I WORE - ELECTRIC AVENUE

So it appears that I am incapable of doing even one outfit shoot without bursting into hysterical laughter. It just so happened that my best friend was taking these photos for me on a recent trip into Chester and since we're always in hysterics around each other, this was really the inevitable outcome.

I think that this sweater from Cheap Monday is my new favourite thing in my wardrobe. It was pretty pricey at £50 from Urban Outfitters, but it is literally my favourite clothing item that I've bought this year. It fits like an absolute dream, slouchy but incredibly cosy it kept me nice and warm on a fairly chilly day, but with the short sleeves it meant that I didn't overheat either - perfect transitional sweater! Teamed with my black bodycon River Island skirt, my Boohoo monochrome boots and my Cheap Monday cobra necklace, it was quite possibly the comfiest outfit I've worn in a long time.

What transitional items have you been favouring recently?

DIAMOND DAYS @ 02 ACADEMY LIVERPOOL

All pictures and words by Lucy-Jayne Love.

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I can remember the first gig I went to like it was yesterday, the way the heady atmosphere caught me up the minute I entered the venue and carried me on its wake the whole night. I went with an incredibly naive view, not expecting a push pit at an Indie gig, forgetting there would be drunk people twice my size and cigarette smoke polluting the air, but I think it was this that actually made the night for me. Being caught up in the crowd, singing along to every word and feeling absolutely part of something, and ever since then I have been a total live music addict.

I started doing live music photography when I was about 17, at the same time as beginning my foray into music journalism with a stint writing for DEADPRESS! before I headed off to University. For many reasons, it was something that fell by the wayside for me for a few years, however my friends in Diamond Days invited me along to their headline gig at 02 Academy in Liverpool last week and invited me to bring my camera along with me. Unfortunately when I got there I found the venue wasn't providing press passes due to their in house photographer being the official photographer for the night, but I managed to grab these photos from the audience and aside from a few heads in the way, I'm really happy with how they turned out.

Diamond Days are a 4 piece pop punk band hailing from the North West of the UK. Absolutely storming their way into the local unsigned scene last year, they have gone from strength to strength, recently being endorsed by Converse and supporting some major bands such as The Blackout on recent tour dates. Eagerly awaiting their EP to drop on the 17th November, I was thrilled to finally get to see them in action.

Their energy on stage absolutely astounded me, I swear they never seemed to stop for a minute and it made an incredible set even more engaging. They'd been asked to produce a 22 minute set for Jar Music Live, an organisation that puts on unsigned nights at various academies around the country, inviting industry professionals to see the bands in action. Despite their set being shorter than their usual offerings, they didn't disappoint at all, packing it with their most popular releases to date including 'Start It From the End' and 'Let Go', the song for which they've just filmed their debut music video.

Check out the band on Facebook, Twitter , Instagram and Soundcloud.

Do you love taking pictures live? What are your favourite unsigned bands?

#BEWAREOFANGELS*

When I was asked if I'd like to take part in the new #BewareofAngels campaign for Thierry Mugler I, of course, jumped at the chance! The campaign is has been running throughout August and the beginning of September, and is celebrating the ANGEL* fragrance and its new muse, Georgia May Jagger.

ANGEL is a scent that embodies everything it means to be a woman. It celebrates the seductress, the mother, the goddess, the glamour and the changes that we, as women, go through on a daily basis. It's fragrance is fruity with a hint of musk, and from the moment I put it on combined with the mini lotion I got sent, I got so many compliments and felt so sexy and feminine that I haven't taken it off since.

The campaign is taking the form of a series of creative writing pieces that embody the femininity of the fragrance, and to read mine click the read more link below...
